Hotel Monterrey Roses
72 Passeig Maritim, 17480 Roses, Spain
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Monterrey Roses, and it was a lovely experience! The hotel is perfectly located right on the stunning Bay of Rosas, with breathtaking views of the sea and the Cap de Creus Natural Park. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway on Costa Brava, this place is a gem.

The hotel offers modern, comfortable rooms with everything you need for a relaxing stay—air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a safe, and a small fridge. Plus, each room has a lovely balcony with two chairs and a table, the perfect spot to take in the views. We decided to upgrade to a sea view, and it was worth it! Watching the waves roll in and listening to the surf was such a peaceful experience, especially at sunset.
For those who enjoy swimming or lounging by the pool, the outdoor pool is perfect for soaking up the Mediterranean sun. And, of course, you’re just steps away from the beach! The hotel is also wheelchair accessible with a lift to all floors, which is a nice touch.
The hotel offers a baby kit (with a cot, highchair, etc.) for families, which we thought was very thoughtful. Just be aware that there’s a small charge for it—either €40 for the week or €30 per day.
There’s also free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, which was great for keeping in touch and sharing photos of our beautiful surroundings.
One thing to keep in mind if you’re traveling with a pet: while the hotel is pet-friendly, dogs are only allowed in the rooms, not in the restaurant, pool area, or bar. Our dog is a bit on the larger side, so we had to check with the hotel before booking to make sure it would be okay for her to stay. Thankfully, they were very accommodating! There is a charge however, of 12 euros per day.
Although we could not attest to the restaurant or bar area, this hotel is perfectly place with a wide choice of cuisine literally on your doorstep, and not even one had an issue with our dog being allowed
The hotel charges €15 a day for parking, but it’s first come, first served, and there’s also free on-street parking available, which worked out fine for us.
The hotel itself was quiet and peaceful when we visited in October, which was perfect for us since we were looking to escape the busy summer crowds. If you enjoy a more laid-back vibe, the off-peak season is definitely the way to go.
A couple of small things: we had two single beds pushed together instead of a double bed, and there weren’t any tea or coffee-making facilities in the room, which would’ve been a nice touch.
Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Monterrey Roses. The location is unbeatable, the views are stunning, and the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful. While the limited pet-friendly areas and the lack of double beds might be a small inconvenience for some, we still felt it was a great choice for a relaxing seaside getaway. If you’re looking for a tranquil escape in Costa Brava, we highly recommend it!
