Hôtel Renaissance
17 Rue Victor Hugo, 81100 Castres

We recently stayed at The Renaissance Hotel, a delightful 4-star boutique hotel gem perfectly nestled in the heart of Castres’ historical centre. Housed in a beautifully preserved 17th-century half-timbered residence, once home to the grandfather of French socialist leader Jean Jaurès, the hotel effortlessly blends historic charm with modern comfort and amenities.
With 22 uniquely decorated rooms, each one exudes character and style. We stayed in one of the Deluxe Double Rooms, (the Medieval Chambre) which was truly opulent, featuring a majestic four-poster bed and elegant décor. The hotel has individually styled rooms, including a Harry Potter-themed family room, a Napoleon suite, and a Renaissance suite to name but a few..

Convenience is a major plus here—secure parking is available for €12, and there’s also a VIP concierge service. The in-room amenities were excellent, including a kettle, espresso machine, mini fridge, safe, and a choice of feather or memory foam pillows, and fluffy bath robes. The hotel also provides thoughtful extras on request, like toiletries, sewing kits, and shoe care kits. which is a nice touch for travellers.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening meal at the hotel—The food was beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and very reasonably priced and we were especially impressed by the warm, friendly, and attentive staff, who made our stay all the more pleasant.
Breakfast offered a generous continental breakfast. A perfect start to the day.
The hotel is just a 15-minute drive from Castres-Mazamet airport, and a short walk from the SNCF train and bus stations. A shuttle service is also available upon request.
If you’re visiting Castres, and the Tarn region, we highly recommend The Renaissance Hotel—an ideal blend of history, comfort, and excellent hospitality, right in the centre of it all.
